Hello again,
Next question for you AK47 experts, I have a Nornico NHM 91 AK47 that has a threaded barrel with a plain flat muzzle 'nut' or protector pined in place. The nut has the cut outs on the edges like you would see on a slant muzzle brake, but the pin that normally is spring loaded so you can push it in and unscrew the muzzle nut won't push back far enough to clear those cutouts so you can unscrew it.
There are two pins that hold the front sight base on the barrel, the front pin apparently is slotted to prevent the muzzle brake pin from going back far enough. Man that front sight base pin is really tight, I tried punching it out but it won't budge. It almost likes like they pressed those sight base pins in then peened them over. I think I would have to drill it out to remove in. But before I go to all this trouble, is it legal here in NY for me to change that plain front muzzle nut with a slant muzzle brake?

I picked up a Norinco MAK-90 a few weeks ago. The serial number on the bolt & bolt carrier are one digit different than the others..7 in lieu of 6.
*Serial# 9362421 on receiver (93 year it was manufactured)
*Serial# 62421 on receiver cover & gas tube
*Serial# 72421 on bolt & bolt carrier
I initially figured that the bolt & bolt carrier had been replaced and that I had a non-matching serial number gun. The fact that the last four digits match seems like more than a coincidence. Is this something Norinco did? Has anyone ever seen this before?
